Amorous Aquatics
A poem
The tide takes two fond flames, fins fused
atop thin ice, novel lovers enthused.
A dance they do, several steps unsure,
over the ocean, itself now obscure.
For beneath that fragile frozen film,
ample friendly fish flap alone,
searching for souls, with which to swim,
only with none to nourish their own.
Thusly our two brush their brows,
vouching never to veto their vows.
Water's warmth won't be further missed,
as scalding scales touch for new love's kiss.
But summer's scorch sinks bergs below
and fondness hatched, hence forth from fear
tears in two, fickle as a fluke.
Once that ocean appears aglow
they flip unto a fresh frontier
judging the junction, just a juke.
